We are a firm of Chartered Accountants which means we work to the highest professional standards.
As you would expect from a chartered firm, we offer clear and proactive advice on a vast range of topics, but it is the manner in which we deliver this advice that sets us apart. Whether you are a large or small business, our philosophy remains the same, to deliver a premium service whilst remaining approachable and competitively priced.
Our practice is large enough that we have specialist expertise in a wide range of areas. At the same time our clients have regular access to partners and other qualified staff. It is this friendly and comprehensive approach that our clients tell us is so important to them.
We always offer new clients a free initial meeting to discuss their circumstances and to see how we can work with them. We then provide all clients with a fixed fee quote before work commences, a rarity in our profession.

Partners
Matthew Chapman FCA
Having qualified with a larger Oxfordshire firm, Matthew was one of the founder partners of Chapman Worth when it was formed in 2003. Aside from looking after his client portfolio, Matthew is also Head of Tax Services. Outside of work Matthew enjoys travelling, eating out and following his two football teams, Oxford United and Leeds United.
Anna Chapman FCA
Anna also qualified and held senior roles with larger Oxfordshire firms before deciding to form Chapman Worth in 2003. Anna is Head of Audit and Assurance Services which covers the audit and accounts department and the bookkeeping, VAT and payroll department. Like Matthew, Anna’s free time is spent travelling and eating out, but also a considerable amount of time is spent looking after the young Chapmans!
PA to Partners
Laura Elliot
Laura joined Chapman Worth in 2011 having worked for a number of blue chip firms in Oxfordshire and London as both a PA and as an Executive Assistant. Laura’s role is to keep us all on track and on time as well as managing reception. Laura is also the Company Secretarial specialist. In her spare time Laura manages her partner’s rock band and runs around after her very lively daughter and step daughter. She enjoys music, cooking and the occasional glass of wine.
Senior Team
Shirley Barry
Shirley joined Chapman Worth in 2005 having been recruited from another Oxfordshire accountancy practice. Shirley is the firm’s small business specialist because of her good all round knowledge of all areas of accounts including VAT and payroll. Outside of work Shirley enjoys time with her dogs, eating out and following her favourite football team, Chelsea.
Doreen Bishop
Before transferring to Chapman Worth as part of the 2007 merger, Doreen had been with Goddard & Broadley since 1976 having applied for a two week temporary role with that firm. Doreen works exclusively in personal taxation and is responsible for the smooth operation of that department. Outside of Work Doreen enjoys working on her vegetable plot, eating out and travelling.
Peter Davies FCA
Peter has been qualified and working in practice for longer than he cares to remember! He transferred to Chapman Worth as part of the merger with Goddard & Broadley in 2007 having joined them in 2005. Peter tends to work with our larger clients, managing his time between his client portfolio and working on those clients that require an audit. Peter is an avid football fan and a keen follower of Reading Football Club.
Susan Fleay
Susan is head of the firm’s bookkeeping, VAT and payroll department and has been with the firm since 2004. She has considerable experience working with both small and medium sized businesses. In her spare time Susan’ enjoys cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Elaine Johnson ACCA
Elaine joined Chapman Worth in 2007 from another Oxfordshire accountancy firm having previously worked as an aeronautical engineer. As well as managing her client portfolio, Elaine is also the firm’s charity specialist. Outside of work Elaine enjoys travelling and nurturing her chickens.
Tom Ottaway ACCA
Tom is the newest member to have joined Chapman Worth in 2011 having been recruited from a respected firm in Oxford. Tom tends to work with our audit clients as well as our solicitor clients. In his spare time he enjoys playing football with friends, as well as being a West Ham supporter. He enjoys watching films, dining out and enjoys the odd beer!
Christine Smith MAAT
Christine transferred to Chapman Worth as part of the merger with Goddard & Broadley in 2007 having been with that firm for nearly ten years. Her portfolio represents a broad spectrum of industry sectors with a particular focus on construction, architects and other property related clients. In her free time Christine is usually found in her garden or busy painting.
